Easyway Drifters is a family operation. Your guide, Dwayne has fished the waters of Central Alberta for the past 30 years. He is a fly fisherman and outdoors man; and spends the summers guiding on his home waters. Marcy, Dwayne's wife, is our head cook and shuttle driver. Her shore lunches and desserts will have you asking for seconds!
Whether
a walk and wade or a drift trip, our goal is to make our clients
trip a memory of a lifetime!
The
waters we guide on start with the Red Deer River.
The
City of Red Deer is centrally located an hour and a half north of
Calgary or an hour and a half south of Edmonton. This makes for an
easy commute from both major airports. With the foothills and the
Rocky Mountains on the horizon in the west, your know, you are in
trout country! The Red Deer River flows through the center of this
diverse countryside.
The
Red Deer River originates in permanent snow fields in the Rocky
Mountains of Banff National Park about 150 miles west of the city
of Red Deer, Alberta. It flows in a generally west to east
direction, across Alberta from the mountains through the foothills
to the Prairies before joining the South Saskatchewan River. The
Red Deer River is a spectacular piece of water. The section that
we guide on begins below the Dickson Dam. The tail water created
by the dam has created habitat that brown trout thrive in. There
are limited access points, making a drift trip the ideal way to
access the hidden waters between the Dixon Dam and the city of Red
Deer.

You
may also want to spend a day fishing the intimate spring fed
waters of the North Raven; where the brown trout are paranoid and
every cast a challenge!
To
add to your experience, a side trip into the Canadian Rockies to
fish the North Ram and Ram Rivers and other mountain streams will
finish that trip of a life time. See our Trips section
for details.
